VSO exists because we know that a world without poverty is possible but it can only happen when people are at the heart of the process. VSO volunteers are experienced, skilled professionals who work in marginalised communities to share their skills to create real change. VSO is the world's leading independent, international development charity that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. VSO recruits experienced professionals to work as volunteers overseas. Right now we are recruiting people from the areas of: • Finance management • Town planning • Education • Health Volunteers are recruited from Ireland, India, Kenya, the Netherlands, Philippines, South Africa, Uganda and the UK. We work in 26 countries, and in each of these VSO has developed an integrated plan in line with existing governmental plans and local civil society groups to tackle exclusion and poverty. VSO provides the following services for our volunteers: • Return flights • Immunisation • Accommodation • Medical insurance • Visa and work permits • Training • Ongoing support – pre, during and post placement. • We also pay a Local Living Allowance based on cost of living in the country you volunteer in.
