Viatores Christi (established in 1960) is a faith-based association which recruits, trains and places skilled people who would like to volunteer overseas as lay missionary development workers for one year or more. We do not run our own projects but instead place our trained volunteers on projects run by our mission partners. We offer full support to our volunteers while they are on assignment and upon their return Viatores Christi provides an excellent training programme to prepare people for life as a volunteer in an overseas context. It is of vital importance that volunteers are well prepared; this helps ensure that they can remain committed to the challenges of living and working overseas. Our training programme consists of six workshop weekends, one per month for six consecutive months. We are grateful to Misean Cara and Irish Aid for their support which allows Viatores Christi to fund our volunteers while they are overseas. Viatores Christi is a signatory to the Comhlámh Volunteer Charter and Sending Organisation Code of Good Practice.
